Trove App Design

This past semester at LSU has been one of my busiest yet fulfilling ones yet. As part of my major, we were required to take an Interactive Multimedia Design class, where we were taught about UX and UI design. Using Figma, we had to create a functional prototype of a mobile app that solves any problem of our choosing.

I’ve always been an avid supporter of shopping secondhand and locally to support small businesses and the planet, so I aimed to make a navigational app to help users find and discover secondhand or local events, giving it the name Trove. This stemmed from a personal issue I face when looking online for new places to thrift, as I love going to a variety of antique stores, estate sales, thrift stores, and so on. The issue is that there’s no one place to search for these stores, and instead, I spend hours scanning the web through different websites, maps, or social media platforms. Through all this, some stores have no online presence or budget for marketing, so they go completely unnoticed.

I created Trove as a one-stop shop to find all of the above, while also aiming to support smaller corporations who have no means of marketing themselves by incorporating a community section where users can input their favorite spots and recommendations. This way, not only will current secondhand shoppers be able to save time by finding stores quickly, but new users will be attracted through the sense of community built from the in-app features.

Feel free to browse through my process below, or if you would like to test the actual prototype, you can do so here!
